The Place Where the Sidewalk Ends...

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rests from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know
The place where the sidewalk ends

I am sick and being sick when you are so far away from home is no fun :( But I got some antibiotics and painkillers and I should be feeling better soon. Tomorrow I am going to a famous spot in sydney for dinner, Cafe Sydney. Its beautiful and fancy, its for my friend Emma's 21st Birthday! WOOO that's why this medicine HAS to work because I want to eat all the fabulous food there tomorrow night. Its Nov. 7th and I leave Nov. 19th. WOW. every time i think about going home already it surprises me.

Make Every Day Count!

"Paradise waits, on the crest of a wave, her angels in flames.
She has no pain, like a child she is pure, she is not to blame.
Poised for flight, wings spread bright, spring from night into the sun.
Don't stop to run, she can fly like a lie, she cant be outdone.

Tell me the cost; I can pay, let me go, tell me love is not lost.
Sell everything; without love day to day insanity's king.
I will pay day by day, anyway, lock, bolt and key.
Crippled but free, I was blind all the time I was learning to see."
-Help on the Way, Grateful Dead

I had 156 days here, and now,
17 days till I am in New Zealand
31 day till I am in Fiji
and 42 until I touchdown back where it all began, Atlanta.
I am grateful for every second I have spent here and just trying to make the most of these last days in this beautiful country!

BLUE MOUNTAINS

Christopher McCandless: No, man. Alaska, Alaska. I'm gonna be all the way out there, all the way fucking out there. Just on my own. You know, no fucking watch, no map, no axe, no nothing. No nothing. Just be out there. Just be out there in it. You know, big mountains, rivers, sky, game. Just be out there in it, you know? In the wild.
Wayne Westerberg: In the wild.
Christopher McCandless: Just wild!
Wayne Westerberg: Yeah. What are you doing when we're there? Now you're in the wild, what are we doing?
Christopher McCandless: You're just living, man. You're just there, in that moment, in that special place and time.

I know it has been forever since I blogged but it is exam time and I've been writing papers for seemingly eternity! Here are a bunch of pictures for the absolutely gorgeous Blue Mountains in Katoomba, Australia. Once again another parallel to Boone, North Carolina. The blue mountains and the adorable mountain town made me miss home!

life is short

Today was a sad day for me and my friends.  My second friend this year has passed away. THIS YEAR. Its really not very fair. I don't really want to say much on the matter, its hard being so far away. I just want to pray for the Pharr family in helping them deal with such a tragedy and for my friends. I love you all. you'll be forever remembered Sam.

R.I.P Scout "scoutty" Falconer

one of favorite songs for an amazing cat: JohnButler "Ocean"

My cat died today :( thats so sad when I come home we won't have a cat anymore. Its funny, I remember when I went to camp in seventh grade for a month and came home and this cat wouldn't leave our house and wouldn't stop sleeping in my room. so we just took her in. months later we found out it belonged to the neighbors who had just moved into the house across the street. they had three little kids and a brand new house and that cat was not having it so she decided to move in with us. and her name was Scout. The neighbors were really cool about it and told us to keep her and sent all her stuff and told us the vet she went to etc. That was our first real family pet. And we didn't even pick her, she chose us. (why she chose the craziest household of all time to live in, no one will ever know) Why you loved my room so much, and not so much me well never know, but thanks for being our first pet :)
