"Change in all things is sweet" -Aristotle
Things I Don't Like:
1. There is no ice. I really miss my ice :( and asking for ice is weird.
2. the internet is stuck in the 1990's (I use an ethernet cord) and there is NOT wifi everywhere on campus.
3. A handle of vodka cost $60-$70
4. $25 covers to get into bars -->don't worry I have yet to have to pay more than $5, scheming. :)
5. The measurements, I am sorry but I suck at all the conversions. The only one mastered--Celsius to Fahrenheit. Why did the U.S decide to be different on everything. including driving on the right side of the road.
6. Tiny tiny tiny water cups everywhere. I go through like 15 every time I eat anywhere and there are no water fountains! I am thirsty often.
7. A case of beer (24 beers) cost $47 --> but there is a really good 2 for $70 deal (if that counts as really good)
8. No matter how hard you try, everyone knows your American haha
9. We are directly under the hole in the ozone. Literally 1:3 aussies have skin cancer. I have to apply sunscreen constantly.
10. The school has approx. $50,000 students and approx 100 computers for students to use on campus. It is a straight up battle for computers.
11. People here walk really slow, because they are so laid back, and I walk fast so sometimes I wanna run people off the sidewalk
12. Going again off everyone being so laid back, you send an e-mail and you won't get a response for over a week here and that's normal. In the states you send an e-mail you expect a response back asap!
Things I Do Like:
1. ITS BEAUTIFUL
2. 3 for $12 Bottles of Wine
3. how clean the city is!
4. I live right next to several of the most fun and beautiful beaches!
5. The bars (90's music!)
6. The people are so friendly!
7. the accents ---so sexy
8. how beautiful the university is and how fun my classes are (i love all my classes so much!) Campus looks like hogwarts.
9. The liberal laid back atmosphere, reminds me of Boone, but this is the norm not my little wonderful mecca where I go to school.
10. $15-$20 minimum wage...HELLO amazing
11. Practically every restaurant is BYO
12. Tax is included in the price of everything. Therefore if a restaurant says something is $22 thats the total--> and you DON'T tip (unless you really want to)
13. My professors are so blunt unlike at Marist they don't try and sugar coat anything and they use profanity frequently.
14. there are bars ON CAMPUS. literally I walk out of class and get a beer.
15. It is such a diverse culture. Literally every single person is different and awesome.
16. It is the middle of the winter and I can still go lay out on the beach.
17. Love where I live. The Sydney University Village (not affiliated with Sydney University) is really awesome. We play beer pong with the RA's (there not like real RA's) and we have partys with the whole village. Everyone gets to know each other and I live 2 seconds from campus. I can look out my window and see campus. PLUS all my friends live here so its perfect
and so much more things! ill keep updating my list as I think of things.
